Selected Authors for Malba Writers' Residence 2025

The Malba Writers' Residence 2025 announced the selected authors to reside and work in the city of Buenos Aires during the year. The chosen ones were the Chilean Alberto Fuguet, the Costa Rican Luis Chaves, the German Timo Berger, the Spanish Rosa Berbel, and the Italian Veronica Raimo. These writers will have the opportunity to carry out their creative projects at the new residence location, one block from the Malba museum, which will allow them to access the cultural programming of the place and the Ampersand library.

The Malba Writers' Residence aims to promote collaboration among authors from different nationalities, building cultural bridges and fostering the internationalization of creators from Spain, Argentina, and other regions. For the second consecutive year, Chilean writers will participate in the collaboration grants thanks to the Matta Cultural Center - Chilean Embassy in Argentina.

Additionally, in a new development for this year, an agreement was established with the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires that will allow the participation of Italian writers in an exclusive grant for authors of that nationality. This step contributes to consolidating cultural ties between different nations, one of the main objectives of the Malba Writers' Residence.

The honorary committee, composed of figures such as John M. Coetzee, Soledad Costantini, Fabio MorĂ¡bito, and Gustavo Guerrero, was responsible for selecting the participants from a large number of applications. Each author will have a specialized program that will address their works, writing processes, and creation, as well as exchange sessions with local colleagues and organizations.

The online call for the Malba Writers' Residence 2025 attracted a record number of inquiries and participations, receiving a total of 653 applications from authors from 58 countries. This success reflects the interest and relevance of this initiative that promotes creativity and cultural exchange in the literary field.
